Stroke Definition

When a sudden interruption is occurred in the blood supply of the brain is called A Stroke. An abrupt blockage of arteries leading to the brain is caused for most strokes (ischemic stroke). Other (hemorrhagic stroke) strokes are caused by bleeding into brain tissue when a blood vessel bursts. Stroke is also called a brain attack, because stroke occurs rapidly and requires immediate treatment.

 

Types of Stroke

There are two major types of strokes, ischemic and hemorrhagic.

Ischemic stroke

This is the most common type of stroke, accounting for almost 80-87 percent of all strokes, is caused by an obstruction within a blood vessel supplying blood to the brain.

 

Hemorrhagic Stroke

Occurs when a damaged blood vessel ruptures and spread pressure on the brain. This time, a portion of the brain becomes deprived of oxygen and will stop working.

 

Transient Ischemic Attack (TIA)

Occurs when the blood clot that is blocking the run of blood in the brain breaks up on its own and the symptoms disappear after a short period of time is called Transient Ischemic Attack or mini-stroke.

  Causes of stroke

High blood pressure is the main cause for stoke. There are many other causes which are identified by researchers. Like -
